An Unexpected Blessing (and lots of adorable baby pictures)

I sit down at my computer to write a post on something that I didn’t think I’d get another chance to write on.

Dreamer has joeys!

I got Inky neutered in May. I made the hard decision that having joeys was putting a strain on Dreamer’s health and that I had to stop. It was a tough decision because I absolutely loved raising joeys and watching the miracle of life unfold right before my eyes. So imagine my surprise when I noticed two little bumps in Dreamer’s pouch that rapidly grew.

Let me be clear on one thing: Ink’s neuter was not unsuccessful. A common myth is that neuters are unsuccessful and because of that the female got pregnant. Females can hold joeys in stasis for up to a year. Dreamer got pregnant right before I had Ink neutered, not afterward.

I watched anxiously as the babies grew larger and larger. I was so hoping that the joeys would survive and that Dreamer’s health wouldn’t suffer. Luckly, everything went very well and continues to do so.

The joeys are about two weeks out of pouch right now and I am so thrilled! They are so beautiful. I have a little boy and a little girl. (Names are still in progress!) I’ll share a lot of pictures below!

The little girl’s OOP date is June 30th, 2021. She is a lovely luecistic.

The little boy’s OOP date is July 1st, 2021. He is absolutely gorgeous. He is a mosaic with cow ears. (I love cow ears!!) He is going to be absolutely beautiful when he matures.

They are both really sweet and gentle. I have held them since the first days that they came OOP. They don’t mind being held at all. They just curl up and go to sleep in my hand. It is really cute because they fit right in my palm.

Dreamer was nervous the first few times I held them, but she’s gotten more comfortable with it as the days have gone by. Ink is still very nervous when I touch the babies. He’s a very good father. He stays with them and keeps them warm while Dreamer runs on the wheel and eats. They are very rarely left alone. As soon as they cry, the parents run back to them! It’s really neat to see what amazing parents both of them are.

And now the pictures! These pictures are guaranteed to make your day brighter. 🙂

13 Days OOP

Eyes are completely open and both are very vocal and lovely.

I hope that those photos make you as happy as they made me. ❤

I would be scared to even look, like they were made out of delicate porcelain.
